We’re building a no-/low-code functional programming platform for anyone to create their own workflows and apps

As a software developer, you probably build and tweak workflows — pulling user stories across a kanban, shepherding pull requests between branches, and continuously delivering code to customers. If your automated workflows are a well-oiled machine that helps you focus on the work that matters, it’s probably because you’re able to understand, configure, modify, and create the software that powers it.

We created Baton to enable anyone to build their own workflows and applications, even without software development experience. Most software requires you to adapt your workflow to it. We believe it should be the other way around — you decide how to work, and Baton hands work off between people and systems for you, transforming data and presenting interfaces that keep everyone focused.

Why Baton?

Baton is all about Functional Programming. If you’re a functional programming enthusiast unfulfilled in a dreary imperative job trying to carve out and defend an island of FP, we’re proud to offer an alternative. FP is core to our shared software development principles. Not only is Baton built nearly functionally pure across our full stack, it provides a functional, reactive paradigm for our customers to build their own workflows and applications. We’re functional to the core.

The right team. We are a company of 5 seasoned product and engineering veterans from Google, Yahoo, and Credit Karma. As a team of only senior engineers, we move fast and stay focused on our customers, product, and code.

We care about who we work with. We are all fortunate to have successful careers and many job opportunities. We choose to work on Baton because we believe in the mission of the company, but we also all learn from and genuinely like the people that we work with.

Huge opportunity. Business productivity is experiencing a renaissance, spurred on by cloud computing and the no-/low-code movement. Where some see a crowd, we see an opportunity to distinguish ourselves. When we see people try out Baton for the first time, we see their eyes light up. They tell us it feels like the way work should happen.

The resources and network to succeed. We’ve raised $2.5M in seed funding from top-tier VCs (Bloomberg Beta is our lead investor) and angel investors.

You will be our first front-end specialist

Our customers experience Baton through a sophisticated single-page web app. As our first front-end specialist, you will:

At Baton, we’re building a product that sells itself. For all engineering roles, we’re looking for developers who orient towards the product, current and future customers, and our team. While we’re headquartered in the Bay Area, we’re a distributed team, and all roles are open to remote work within the US.
